I propose that all future concerts be held at Lakewood Park. This I
policy would go into effect once the band shell has been relocated I
to Lakewood Park.
Lakewood Park is an ideal location for concerts. It is relatively
isolated from the rest of the City. It has adequate parking area
and, also, the trees to act as a natural sound absorber to reduce
problems for the neighbors.
All future concerts should be held at Lakewood Park. It would be
discriminatory to treat different bands differently. One's choice
of music is a personal preference, and the City should treat these
preferences uniformily. Lakewood Park is the only location where
all bands can play without disturbing the surrounding neighbors.
The Park Advisory Board is opposed to holding all concerts at Lake-
wood Park. They feel the Municipal Band, for example, should con-
tinue to play at Sunset Park. The Municipal Band would prefer to
continue playing at Sunset Park.
Passage of this proposal will encourage more use of Lakewood Park by
the citizens of Salina.
