September 7,1978 Salina City Commission 300 W. Ash Salina, Kansas 67401 Re: Application #Z78-17 by the Salina City Planning Commission to amend Sections 36-403, 36-907, and 36-1301 of the Salina Code. Gentlemen and Mrs. Graves: On September 5,1978, the Salina City Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on Application #Z78-17. At that time a motion was unanimously approved (6-0) to recommend that the attached changes be made in the Salina Code based upon the following Findings-of-Fact: Sincerely, 1. This amendment would be consistent with the intent and purposes of the zoning regulations, as specifically enumerated in Section 36-101 of the Salina Code; 2. This change could affect all residential areas throughout Salina by specifically including in the zoning ordinance criteria regulating these garage sales in the categories of General Use Regulations, Signs and Definition; 3. This amendment is made necessary primarily due to the need to define and recognize garage sales, as this use is technically a commercial enterprise in a residential area, and therefore, should be specifically covered by the Zoning Ordinance, not only for interpretative purposes, but for protection of the surrounding residential area. ~y PLANNING COMMISSION .J Keith F.
