Administrative Brief
June 23, 1978
To:
All City Commissioners
From:
. N. D. Olson, City Manager
Subject:
Monday, June 26,1978, Commission Meeting
F-6 & F-7: These two ordinances are mandated by State Law and simply
relate to the amount of interest the city must pay on water customer
deposits and the procedure for attempting to locate depositors who have
discontinued service 3 years previously, without providing the department
notification of their whereabouts. .
F-9: This item probably does not technically belong on a City Commission
agenda. It does, however, afford us an opportunity to get better coverage
by the media than to simply provide it to them as a news release. Comments
(either written or oral) received on July 10 are actually to be presented
to me. I can see nothing wrong, however, with all of us hearing the same
pitch made either by an individual or a group.
ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA:
I believe one of you mentioned last week that each of you did not obtain
a copy of the News Club letter to Rex Lorson signed by Chris Seitz. I
know you would each like your own personal copy, so it is included.
Dee Quade called earlier this afternoon wanting us to pick a date and
time to meet with the County Commissioners. Margaret asked her if they
proposed a public or closed meeting to which the response was, "Not a
public meeting, but not closed". Wayne Lockard then visited with Margaret
and stated that they wanted to visit about Minor Harris's request for
another landfill in the county. It would appear to me that they should
simply extend the invitation to you for the meeting to be held on their
grounds. You might want to visit about a convenient time and date.
We would have no objections to relating this to them for you.
