4.1 Food Care Week~~AS, there are appro~mately 1,100 c~ldren in 200 licenses family child care homes se~ed
by M~in Luther ~ng, Jr. Chid and Adult C~e Food Pro~, in Saline County and
the surrounding counties: and
~~AS, one of the basic rights ofc~ldren, as set fo~h in the Universal Declaration of Human
~ghts by Eleanor Roosevelt in 1948, is their right to basic nutrition: and
~~AS, since the inception of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in 1968, as
mandated t~ough the National School Lunch Act, it has benefited many children and
adults in care: and
~~AS, the two fundamental goals of the CACFP are that the children se~iced by this
program ~11 be well nourished during these crucial years, while concurrently learning
healthy eating behaviors that will last them a lifetime: and
~~AS, we ac~owledge the chid and adult care providers, the nutrition educators, program
specialists and sta~ state ~d/bderal professionals and parents who contribute to the
success of this outstanding program, the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
