GREETINGS---------To our fellow citizens,
1.VHEREAS :
The American Legion and the American Legion
Auxiliary adopted the Memorial Eoppy as its
Memorial Flower in 1919, and
By wearing the Poppy, Americans ever~vhere
and especially in this City of Salina both
pay tribute to these \l3.J' dc§d and aid the
living by assistance to Veterans and their
families in time of need; and
WHEREAS:
\ÆEREAS:
The Poppy Day Program contributions are
used solely for the programs of Child Welfare
and Rehabilitation in our co~~unity and state;
I, Jack vleisgerber, Hayor of the City of Salina,
do hereby proclaim the month of Bay 1978 as
POppy MONTH, and May 6,1978 as POppy DAY in
our City, and I urge all Citizens of our town
to join with me in the wearing of the Memorial
Flower as together we remember the sacrifices
of so many in defense of our freedom.
