Award of contract for the 1995 Building Demolition, Project No. 95-
956.
BACKGROUND
This project involves the demolition of houses, duplexes, accessory
buildings and garages at the fourteen (14) following addresses:
733 N. 3rd House & Shed
704-706 N. 4th Duplex
1010 N. 5th House
353 N. 7th RR Depot/Warehouse
1009-1011 N. 9th Garage
1008 N. 10th Garage
512 N. 12th House
1301 Greeley House
318 Missouri Shed
1106 Stapler Outbuilding & Garage
226-228 N. 10th Duplex (city-owned)
234 N. 10th Apartment Building (city-owned)
411 W. Park House (city-owned)
425 S. 4th Storage Building (city-owned)
Ten (10) of these structures are a portion of the 32 condemned
buildings from the 1995 Dangerous Structures Program. All of the
other comdemned buildings were repaired or removed by the owners.
Three (3) other structures on the list, located at the southeast
corner of North Tenth Street and Park Street, are being removed to
make room for a new City-County parking facility. The remaining one
(1) structure at 425 S. Fourth Street is the city-owned storage
building which was previously occupied by the Water Department until
the Water Department warehouse was built at Third and Elm. Mike
Peterson, Chief Building Official, will be available at the meeting to
answer questions regarding the dangerous structures.

All costs associated with this project will be assessed to the owners
of record of each property after the demolition is completed. The
total cost of the Memorial Hall area properties is $30,730, to be
charged to that project. The Water Department warehouse demolition is
$3,600.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission award the contract for the
1995 Building Demolition, Project No. 95-956, to Diehl Construction,
Inc. in the amount of $61,930.00.
