4.1 Steve Ryan DayPROCLAMATION
of
The City of Salina, Kansas
All the citizens of Salina join to honor Steve Ryan, who through his generosity
is an example of what community truly means; and
Steve Ryan serves his community by his involvement with many civic and
community organizations, like the Salina Downtown Lions, the Salina Com-
munity Theatre Board of Directors and YMCA's Board of Directors and En-
dowment Foundation Board of Directors; and
Steve Ryan provides leadership to the community and helped shape its
future as a two-term City Commissioner from 1985 to 1993, as well as serv-
ing as Mayor in 1990-91 and 1992-93. He also filled a vacancy on the commis-
sion from January to April 1995; and
Steve Ryan serves as a positive role model for the youth of the community by
not only his personal example of leadership, but also by his commitment to
education through his service on the Creating the Future Leadership Team
and being the Keys to the Future Campaign Chairperson; and
Steve Ryan continues to provide insight and direction to the economic growth
of Salina through his service on the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce
Board of Directors for the better part of the 1980s and 1990s; and
On Independence Day, when freedom is celebrated, we remember how much
involvement in community helps keep freedom alive and by his continued
example Steve Ryan shows what it is to be "Ali-American"; and
SO NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED I, Kristin M. Seaton, Mayor of the City of Salina, do hereby
proclaim July 4, 2001, to be:
"STEVE RYAN DAY"
