3907 Protest Garden Plots p~ tùwJ.... ¡¡qol August 3, 1985 '85 ¡jiIG FILED 5 AN II 06 To: His Honor the Mayor and City Commissioners; (John Burgess, Joe Ritter, Merle Hodges, Steve Ryan and Sydney Soderburg) We would like to bring to your attention on article printed on July 17, 19P5, in the Salina Journal concerning the need for an expansion or' garden plots by the Recreation Commission, The ground they seem to have chosen for this purpose is Centennial Park in West Salina, bounded by the stre.ets of Conmanche, Cypress Drive, Hemlock, Plum and Birch Drive. This is a dtypark and we feel it should be used for recreatiohal purposes, for which it was intended, and not for gardening purposes, We, .the undersigned, as well as many neighbors and other concerned parties, object strongly to the Recreation Commission's choice, and feel they can and should come up with a better alternative than destroying one of our city parks, Please give this matter your deepest consideration and join with us in keeping Centennial Pork intact.
