The B.O.D. averaged 186 mg/l per day and 94% of this was removed, giving a final effluent of 11.6 mg/l B.O.D. The suspended solids averaged 228 mg/1 per day, 96% of this was removed, leaving 8.3 in the final effluent. Total sludge pumped to digesters was 18,975,620 gallons. An average of 51,988 gallons per day. The volatile solids were reduced by 85% before the supernatant was returned to the plant. A total of 1,147,500 gallons of digested sludge was removed from the digesters. 184,000 gallons was run to drying beds and 963,500 gallons was hauled to the field. . IMPROVEMENTS AND REPAIRS PLANT NO. I New bar screen and rag dump was replaced in the grit chamber. The rest of the equipment on the grit chamber was sandblasted and painted. Bearings were replaced in No.1 mixer motor on digester tank No.2. All three sludge pumps in digester basement had shaft sleeves and pack- ing gland bolts replaced. We had some minor problems with the burner on the boiler and two con- trol valves had to be replaced. The tubes and plates in the boiler are in good condition. We have not had leaks or corrosion problems since we started using city water and adding chemicals in December 1975. U joints were replaced on No.2 filter pump. 'Bearings and impeller was replaced 'in No.1 secondary sludge pump. New valve head and bearings were replaced on automatic butterfly vålve. GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS AND MISCELLANEOUS Received new LeRoy air compressor. Received a new 8" centrifugal pump; gasoline driven engine. was received from Civil Defense. The suspended solids averaged 171 mg/l per day, 92% was removed, leaving 14 mg/l in the final effluent. An estimated 730,000 gallons of sludge was pumped to the digester. 256,500 gallons of liquid sludge was hauled to fields; 103,000 gallons run to drying beds. IMPROVEMENTS AND REPAIRS Due to low flow to this plant a recirculating line was installed from the west filter junction box to the manhole in front of the plant. The 18 inch inlet gate valve to the plant was dug up and repaired and replaced in good working order. Bearings and seal was installed in No.1 mixer motor. Replaced bottom ring and seal in commutator in wet wells. Office and storage buildings were painted on the outside. Received bids for installing flow meter at this plant November 27,1977. Smoky Hill was awarded the contract and will begin work in January 1978.
