Supplemental Engineering Agreement No. 2 for the South Ohio Street Corridor Improvements, Project
No. 98-1138.
BACKGROUND
The City Commission authorized the original engineering agreement with Wilson & Company for the
concept phase of the South Ohio Corridor Improvements, Project No. 98-1138, on July 13, 1998.
Then, on April 5, 1999, Supplemental Agreement No. 1 to the agreement was approved to provide the
final design and project bidding services for the project. In the past few weeks, three additional items
of work have been identified for Wilson & Company which were not included in the previous scope
of work on the project. The project is reaching the final stages of design, with a bid letting scheduled
for February 22, 2000 and commencing construction on March 15, 2000.
The three additional items included in Supplemental Agreement No. 2 are:
1. Design of new pedestrian traffic signal at Nottingham ...................... $ 6,000.00
2. Revise right-of-way acquisition surveys and documents ................... $ 2,900.00
3. Locate and re-establish property comers after construction ............... $14.500.00
Total .................... $23,400.00
The contract amount approved to date by the City Commission, including the concept phase and the
design phase, is $336,826.00. If approved, Supplemental Agreement No. 2 will increase the contract
by $23,400.00 or 6.95 percent. Staff has reviewed the supplemental agreement and the fee structure
and finds them to be acceptable for the proposed additional work. The South Ohio Corridor
Improvement Project is financed with general obligation bonds. The total project budget amount is
$4.5 million.
ACTION
It is recommended that the City Commission approve Supplemental Engineering Agreement No. 2 for
the South Ohio Corridor Improvements, Project No. 98-1138, in the amount of $23,400.00.

THIS SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT NO. 2 MADE AS OF ,2000, by and between
the City of Salina, Kansas, (OWNER) and Wilson & Company, Engineers & Architects, with an office
at 1700 East Iron Avenue, Salina, Kansas, (ENGINEER).
WHEREAS: The AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES between the OWNER and the
ENGINEER dated 13 July 1998 set forth the required performance of professional engineering services
and payment for the planning and design of roadway and drainage improvements along the South Ohio
Street Corridor (PROJECT).
The PROJECT included: professional engineering and surveying services for concept design and
planning for improvements to South Ohio Street from Belmont Boulevard to Schilling Road and
Magnolia Road from Belmont Boulevard to the East City Limits.
WHEREAS: The original scope of the contract dated 13 July 1998 was supplemented to include
additional services requested by OWNER as defmed in Paragraph 2.1.2.
WHEREAS: THE OWNER desires to authorize additional services for the PROJECT. Such services to
include additional design and surveying.
WHEREAS: The OWNER is authorized by law to employ Consulting Engineers to render professional
engineering services and to make payment for their services;
WITNESSETH: The OWNER and ENGINEER mutually agree that this SUPPLEMENTAL
AGREEMENT NO. 2 shall be subject to the provisions of the AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL
SERVICES between the City of Salina, Kansas, and Wilson & Company, Engineers & Architects, dated
13 July 1998, and is hereby modified in accordance with the attached SUPPLEMENT NO. 2.

On Page 3 of 11, under Paragraph 2.1.2, authorize ENGINEER to provide the additional services
described below:
Add the design and details for construction of a new pedestrian crossing signal system in the
construction documents; revise the right-of-way plans, tract maps, and descriptions to include tracts
recently purchased by the City at the Magnolia Road/Ohio Street intersection; locate and reset all
disturbed property pins along the project and reference and reset 2 section comers within the project
limits.
