Prior to rezoning on February 14, ~977, four blocks on each side of
Ohio street, including the block in this petition, were zoned "0"
commercial.
Much of this four-block area on both sides of Ohio had
been developed as commercial property before the rezoning on February
14, 1977.
When the arcÇ was rezoned, the entire four-block area on
each side of Ohio, with the exception of the block in this Applica-
tion and the block due east, Llere rezoned either C-3 or C-5, which
is comparable to the old "0" zone.
However, the C-1 zone applied
to the block in this petition will not allow ths retail businesses
allowed in the remainder of the four-block ~rea.
Since the entire area was once considered commercial, and since
commercial development has taken place in much of this area, the
owneis of Lot 7, Block 6, respectfully petition the rezoning so
that this area may be developed in much the same manner as the
remainder of the four-block area on each sid~ of Ohio.
