The City of Salina's sanitation Division, effective immediately, for residential
customers, will expand it's grass and leaf collection program to include pick-up of
garden waste and shrub trimmings. This will allow the City's sanitation customers
to leave their bagged yard waste alongside their trash cart on their regular trash
day where it will be picked up by a second vehicle. Customers may place next to'
their cart, at no extra cost, as many bags of yard waste as they wish. For
employee safety, customers should use standard size yard waste bags being
careful not to overfill the bags. The sanitation employee will remove the bags and
the yard waste will be taken to Kanza Composting Yard Waste Recycling Center to
be turned into compost.
The City of Salina believes this program is a benefit to the customer, to the
environment and will save valuable landfill space. For further information, contact
