Award of contract for the Building Demolition, Project No. 97-1031.
BACKGROUND
The 1997 Capital Improvement Program includes a project to construct a fire department
training facility directly north of Fire Station No. 1, on North Seventh Street. In order to
complete the project, additional property had to be purchased. This property contains four
existing structures, previously used for apartments, which must now be removed. This
Building Demolition, Project No. 97-1031, will complete the process of removing buildings,
foundations, utilities, etc. and ready the site for the proposed training facility.
Bids were received for this project on Tuesday, July 29, 1997 as follow:

Bob Smith Salvage $57,000.00 August 18 - September 17, 1997
Engineers Estimate $27,500.00
The 1997 CIP allocates $425,000 for the Fire Department Training Facility Project, from
which the funds for this demolition project will be paid.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission award contract for Building Demolition, Project
No. 97-1031 to Diehl Construction Company in the amount of $25,975.00.
