3.1 Proclamation EntrepreneuriPROCLAMATION
ENTREPRENEURIAL WEEK-- March 7 — March 11. 2022
Whereas, the City of Salina recognizes and values the dedication and entrepreneurial spirit within
our community; and
Whereas, our nation, and society in general, have benefited greatly from everyday use of once
radical, breakthrough innovation developed and brought to market by entrepreneurs, and
Whereas, entrepreneurial firms are a critical component to the spread of economic stability
throughout the world; and
Whereas, now more than ever, finding a path to success is defined by an individual's ability to
turn their ideas into reality; and
Whereas, the City of Salina supports and joins in this local effort to help the region's small
businesses do what they do best, create jobs, and ensure that our communities remain as vibrant
tomorrow as they are today; and
Whereas, StartUp Salina, the Salina Community Economic Development Organization, the
Salina Chamber of Commerce, Kansas State University Salina Aerospace and Technology
Campus, Salina Area Technical College, The Temple — Salina Innovation Foundation, Kansas
Wesleyan University, SCORE Wichita, and Network Kansas have planned activities throughout
the week to insp;re, connect, inform, mentor, and engage the next generation of entrepreneurs;
and
Whereas, the week of events will culminate with a live pitch competition on Friday, March 1 g`" at
6:00 PM at The Temple — 336 South Santa Fe in Salina. Ten applicants will have the opportunity
to give a 5 -minute business pitch and have a 5 -minute Q & A before a panel of judges. Top prizes
include $8,000 for 11' Place, $5,000 for 2n1 Place, and $3,000 for 3rd Place. Bennington State
Bank and JRI Hospitality are underwriting the prize money.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Dr. Trent W. Davis, M.D. Mayor of the City of Salina, do hereby proclaim
the week of March 7 through March 11, 2022, as Entrepreneurial Week which acknowledges
and celebrates the achievements made by small businesses, both locally and nationally.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Salina,
