3.1 Marymount College ProclamationPROCLAMATION OF
THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS
WHEREAS, on October 7 & 8, 2022, attendees, graduates, and
administration will come together to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the
opening of the Nazareth Academy/Marymount College.
WHEREAS, the celebration will recognize the association with the Sisters of
St. Joseph, Concordia, KS, and the Salina Catholic Diocese.
WHEREAS, Marymount College of Kansas played an important part in
furthering the education of thousands of students from Kansas, the United
States, and various points around the world, in Business, Nursing,
Education, Music and Drama, as well as other areas of study.
WHEREAS, Marymount College of Kansas played an integral role in
furthering the Catholic faith amongst its students, as well as other religious
denominations.
WHEREAS, Marymount College of Kansas possessed a nationally ranked
basketball program for over a decade.
WHEREAS, Marymount College of Kansas closed in 1989, but the spirit lives
on around the world with their alumni family.
THEREFORE, I, Trent W. Davis, M.D., Mayor of the City of Salina, KS, do
hereby proclaim the day of October 7, 2022, as
MARYMOUNT COLLEGE REUNION AND
CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION DAY
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the
Seal of the City of Salina, KS, to be affixed this 19th day of September in
the year 2022. .
