Authorize Resolution No. 05-6154 adopting the position description for the City Manager of the
City of Salina.
BACKGROUND:
Under the direction of the City Manager, the Human Resources Department, in cooperation with
Department Heads and employees, develops and maintains position descriptions for all classified
and regular positions. The position descriptions and changes thereto are approved by the City
Manager.
The City Manager is appointed by and accountable to the City Commission. Therefore it is logical
and appropriate that this governing body develop and adopt the position description for the City
Manager. The attached position description was recently drafted under the direction of the City
Commission. It is in the same format as that used for all other City positions and is logically
retained by the Human Resources Department in a fashion consistent with all other position
descriptions.
The Commission may from time to time be asked or may ask to review, edit and re-affirm approval
of the City Manager position description. No changes shall be made without such review and
formal City Commission adoption.
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize Resolution No. 05-6154 adopting the position description for the City Manager of the
City of Salina.
