A public hearing to consider the vacation of an existin~ 16-foot platted alley in Block 3, Pacific Addition
to the City of Salina, Kansas lying between North 10t and 11 th Streets, north of Broadway Boulevard
to Pacific Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
Petition number 4258 was filed on December 9, 2004 by Kathy Jackson, representing the Seventh-
Day Adventists Church, property owner for the two adjacent properties to the north. Please find
attached a copy of the petition and vicinity map.
The purpose of the alley vacation is to allow private use of the space and specifically a private parking
lot for the church. The public alley does contain several public utilities, therefore staff is
recommending that the area be retained as a public utility easement for repair and maintenance of the
existing utilities.
Should the alley vacation be approved, half (8-foot) of the alley would go to each adjacent landowner.
All of the adjacent landowners are represented on the petition by signature.
FISCAL NOTE:
This action will have no fiscal impact to the City of Salina.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City staff recommends the City Commission approve Ordinance No. 05-10258 on first reading
vacating a 16' platted alley in Block 3, Pacific Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas.
