Authorize Publication of the Notice of Budget Hearing for the 2023 budget which sets September 12,
2022 as the date for public hearing to exceed the Revenue Neutral Rate and on the 2023 budget, and
establishes the maximum limits of the 2023 budget.
BACKGROUND:
Kansas state statutes require that a formal public hearing be held if any taxing entity intends on
exceeding the Revenue Neutral Rate and a formal public hearing on the proposed budget be held and
that a public notice be published at least 10 days prior to such hearing dates. A notice will also be
published on the City's website.
The Notice to exceed Revenue Neutral Rate and Budget Hearing will include the date, time and location
for the hearings as well as establish the maximum limits of the 2023 budget and the maximum amount
of Ad Valorem (property tax) to be levied.
The 2023 proposed budget establishes the maximum mill levy at 30.452 mills. This mill levy will allocate
the following amounts:
General Fund $11,729,215
Bond & Interest Fund $ 3,346,042
Total $15,075,256
Next steps in adopting the 2023 budget include:

After publication these amounts may not be increased, but can be reduced.
