REGARDING: Comprehensive Fee Schedule Changes

The principal purpose of Item 8.3 is to add the Nuisance Administration Fee and
the Investigative Fee to our Comprehensive Fee Schedule. The definitions of those two
fees are as follows:
Nuisance Administration Fee - $35.00 per occurrence: This fee is the average amount
of cost the City incurs if the required corrective action is not taken by the owner or
agent of the property. This fee would only be charged if the City actually performs the
"cleanup work" and/or the matter is referred to Municipal Court. We established this
fee amount when Municipal Court began an attempt to recover the City's
administrative cost when determining the amount of fines owed by the owner or tenant
of property found guilty of allowing a nuisance to exist.
Investigative Fee: Work without a Permit - $ Actual Amount of Required Fees: This
fee is authorized in Section 304 (e) of the Uniform Building Code. This fee is charged
when a contractor, owner or agent commences work without first obtaining a permit.
The Investigative Fee amount is equal to and in addition to the standard fee amount.
This essentially doubles the fee amount if the work is started without a permit. We are
requesting this be shown in the Comprehensive Fee Schedule at the suggestion of
contractors who have been charged this fee and were tmaware of its existence.
The secondary purpose was to make Other Inspection Fees sections of the
Comprehensive Fee Schedule more tm/form to eliminate confusion as to the amount of
the fees. Based on our experience this will also more accurately reflect the City's cost
of providing these services. The changes are as follows:
Reinspection -
