Minutes SEPTEMBER 20211248
The meeting of the Salina Public Library Board of Trustees was held at 7:00 a.m. on
September 21, 2021, in the Prescott Room.
The following Board members were present: David Greiser, Brendan Burke, Judy Nold,
Gerry Cox, Lisa Mahler, Susan Kelly, Melissa Hodges, and Danielle Brown. Others present
were Melanie Hedgespeth and Sandy Wilcox.

21-29 On a motion made by Brendan Burke and seconded by Gerry Cox, it was
RESOLVED THAT: The Board of Trustees of the Salina Public Library approves the
consent agenda. Motion passed unanimously. Pg 1247. 09/21/2021
DISCUSSION/ACTION
DIRECTORS REPORT:
The digital sign is scheduled to be installed on October 27th. Melanie met with staff at
Heusner school to work on partnerships with them. We have hired Larry Billinger as the
Head of Tech to start October 1st. We also hired a part-time security guard to fill the
weekend spot. We are still looking for a Development Coordinator.
COVID situation:
We are having programmers keep their numbers lower in the rooms and require
registration.
CKLS
Melanie presented the 2022 MOU to the Board. 3 numbers were incorrect in the MOU
prepared by the CKLS Administrator. The CKLS Board will have to vote again in October
on the corrected MOU due to the errors.

21-30 On a motion made by David Greiser and seconded by Gerry Cox, it was
RESOLVED THAT: The Board of Trustees of the Salina Public Library approved to
discontinue the section 125 plan benefit as of January 1, 2022. Motion passed unanimously.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
21-31 On a motion made by Brendan Burke and seconded by Judy Nold it was
RESOLVED THAT: The Board of Trustees of the Salina Public Library and the Library
Director recess into executive session for 10 minutes based upon the need to discuss
personnel matters of non-elected personnel pursuant to K.S.A. 75-4319(b)(1). The open
meeting will resume in this room at 7:48 a.m. Pg. 1249, 09/21/2021.

Director review discussed. Committee was formed consisting of Judy Nold, Gerry Cox,
and Danielle Brown.
