Change Order No. 1 for the South Marymount Road Improvements, Project No. 01-1274.
BACKGROUND
This change order on the South Marymount Road Improvement Project involves five additional items
of work to complete the storm drainage portion of the project. The majority of these items are due to
field plan changes to improve the effectiveness of the overall drainage system. The others were simply
unforeseen circumstances that caused the overruns.
The contract date for this project was August 28, 2001. The total amount of this change order is
$14,151.72. The original contract amount with APAC-Kansas, Inc., Shears Division was $988,794.70.
If approved, this change order will result in a 1.4 percent increase in the total contract amount or
$1,002,946.42. The majority of the additional costs included in this change order will be paid by the
City as opposed to an allocation of additional special assessments to the benefit district because the
additional work relates to the storm drainage improvements.
The project is on schedule. The majority of the storm drainage improvements in the corridor have been
completed and placed into service. Currently, the major drainage structure at the south end of
Marymount Road is under construction. Upon completion of that structure in January, 2002, the
existing roadway will be reopened to through traffic until the Spring, 2002. The final phase of
construction, involving the reconstruction of the street and the addition of a continuous sidewalk, will
take place between March-July, 2002.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission approve Change Order No. 1 for the South Marymount
Road Improvements, Project No. 01-1274, with APAC-Kansas, Inc., Shears Division in the amount of
$14,151.72.

in the City of Salina, Kansas, dated July 2001 , are hereby amended in the
following particulars only; all other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

42 Add 124 C.Y. of Foundation Stabilization at Sta. 21 + 24.09 to improve sub-base
conditions under new 6' x 12' RCB
2. The undersigned proposed to furnish all tools, appliances, equipment,
materials, and labor required to complete the construction in a thorough, workmanlike,
and satisfactory manner in accordance with the drawings, specifications, and contract
documents, for the following prices.
