Study Session - Public Art
Martha has provided the attached information for your reading prior to Monday's
Study Session. Monday the artist and Arts and Humanities staff will provide drawings,
overviews, etc. The purpose of Monday's Study Session is to provide a status report
and what information is currently available. No action at all is anticipated. You may
wish to ask questions on the "vision" as presented. Any action would take place in
January or February as more detailed staff review and input is received. At some
point in that time period, you will consider action based on an "Issues and Options"
report I will be preparing.
Finances:
· Current cost estimate for what you see on Monday is $400,000-$450,000.
· City management staff has estimated that $110,000 to $120,000 is available!
appropriate from city budgeted funds for South 9th, Phase 3 project to be bid in
January. This includes: $40,000 credit for sidewalk and $70,000 to $80,000 for
public art enhancement.
We'll gain new information on Monday, then think through the options after
January 1. Call me if you have questions.
