Award bid for purchase of one (1) Nuisance Code enforcement vehicle
BACKGROUND:
This vehicle replaces a 1994 Nuisance Code enforcement vehicle that was recently transferred to
Neighborhood Services to replace an older vehicle which had become increasingly costly to
maintain. The 1994 vehicle is listed as trade-in equipment in the bid specifications. The bid
specifications requested bid amounts for a four-door sedan, wagon or hatchback. Since this vehicle
is subject to frequent stops and frequent idling, fuel efficiency was noted as a consideration in the
request for bid proposal.
The City Clerk opened the following vendor bids on August 10, 2004:

FISCAL NOTE:
The 2004 CIP - Vehicles and Equipment budgeted $13,000 for this item.
RECOMMENDATION:
The hatchback model is preferred due to a slightly higher EPA fuel efficiency rating and better
access to cargo space for use of ladders and hauling of items such as illegal signs etc. Thus, staff
recommends awarding the bid for one (1) inspection vehicle to Long McArthur, Inc. for the 2005 4-
door hatchback vehicle in the amount of $12,942.
