(a) Consideration of designating site southeast of the Schilling/Ohio intersection as the preferred
site for a future soccer complex.
(b) Authorizing and directing city staff to pursue negotiations with Saline County to amend our
current agreement related to this site; taking into consideration the interests of current leaseholders
as well as other factors in the public interest.
BACKGROUND:
City staff requests further direction from the City Commission related to pursuit of an appropriate site
for a potential future soccer complex. We will provide a thorough report at the Commission meeting.
This requested action is for preferred site selection only. Staff recognizes that the Commission has
made no decisions as to financing or placing a city soccer complex in the City's capital improvement
plan. However, designation of a preferred site will enable the staff to work with Saline County
officials, leaseholders and other interested parties. Staff will then be able to prepare appropriate
reports for Commission 5-year C.I.P. consideration in the coming months.
ACTION:
Consider designation of the East Schilling Road site as the preferred site for a future soccer
complex. Provide further direction to city staff related to City-County discussions.
