RESOLUTION NUMBER 97-5162
A RESOLUTION FINDING THE SALINA AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL
CENTER TO BE A BLIGHTED AREA.
WHEREAS,
pursuant to K.S.A. 17-4746 the governing body may
adopt a resolution
finding that one
or more blighted areas exist within the
municipality; and
necessary in
the
interest of the public health,
WHEREAS,
K.S.A. 17-4760
defines a blighted
area as exhibiting
certain conditions which
substantially
impairs sound growth
and constitutes an
economic liability to
the municipality.
SO NOW,
THEREFORE, BE
IT RESOLVED by the
Governing Body of
the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the City Commission hereby adopts the Salina
Airport Industrial Center Blighted Area Report, attached hereto and
incorporated by reference as if fully set forth herein.
Section 2. That the City Commission hereby finds the real property
described in the above referenced report to be a blighted area which, due to
the presence of a substantial number of deteriorated or deteriorating
structures, predominance of defective or inadequate street layout, improper
subdivision or obsolete platting and faulty lot layout, and the existence of
conditions which endanger life or property by fire or other causes,
substantially impairs the sound growth of the city, constitutes an economic
liability, and is a menace to public health, safety, morals or welfare in its
present condition and use.
Section 3. That
the City Commission hereby
finds that
the
rehabilitation, conservation, or
redevelopment of said area is
necessary in
the
interest of the public health,
safety, morals or welfare of
the residents
of
the city.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
Adopted by the Board of Commissioners and signed by the Mayor
this 2nd day of June, 1997.
