A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PREPARATION AND FILING
WITH THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AN APPLICATION FOR
FUNDING UNDER THE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANTS PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice Assistance has announced the
availability of federal funding under the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant
Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Salina is eligible for a direct award of $39,861
under the program; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to use this available funding
to enhance public safety in the community; SO NOW, THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That the City of Salina, Kansas, prepare and file with
the United States Department of Justice an application for $39,861 in law
enforcement funding under the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program.
Section 2. That the City of Salina will provide $4,429 in Matching
Funds from the Vehicles and Equipment Account.
Section 3. That the City Manager, as the Chief Executive Officer of
the City, is authorized to sign and submit this application and all associated
forms and certifications, and to provide such additional information as may be
required.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
Adopted by the Board of Commissioners and signed by the Mayor
this 7th day of July, 1997.
