RESOLUTION NUMBER 97-5189
A RESOLUTION NAMING THE PRACTICE FIELD AT THE EAST
CRAWFORD RECREATION AREA THE ROGER H. WILBUR FIELD.
WHEREAS, the City of Salina Parks and Recreation Department owns
and maintains a practice field used by high schools, colleges and many league
teams; and
WHEREAS, a request has been made to name this practice field after
Roger H. Wilbur who was instrumental in raising money for the construction
of the Evans Stadium and practice field project; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wilbur was active in youth baseball for many years
as a player and went on to give his time, energy and money coaching,
sponsoring and promoting youth baseball in Salina; and
WHEREAS, in 1981, Mr. Wilbur joined the American Legion
Development Committee, the forerunner to Salina Baseball Enterprises, Inc.
where he served on the board until his death February 1, 1996; SO NOW,
THEREFORE
Kansas:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina,
Section 1. That the practice field at the East Crawford Recrea
Area be named the Roger H. Wilbur Field.
Section 2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
and after its adoption.
Adopted by the Board of Commissioners and signed by the
