First reading Ordinance Number 97-9785 relating to the cutting of weeds and
vegetation, providing for notice and providing for cutting by the City of Salina
and providing or charges therefore.
Backffround
This ordinance provides a streamlined process for enforcing the mowing of
high weeds. A property owner or occupant need only be given one ten day
notice during the year to mow excessively high weeds. No further formal
notice is then required for subsequent violations. This procedure enables the
Code Enforcement Officer to be more responsive to weed complaints while
aiding administrative efficiency. The initial violation letter will state that
only one formal notice will be given.
The City has adopted this ordinance previously and has found it to work
satisfactorily.

Adopt Ordinance Number 97-9785.
