It is believed that the same vandals at Sunset Park are doing the graffiti by Kenwood Cove. It is believed to not be gang related. It is felt that this vandalism is not excessive at the time, but more along the lines of kids being kids. There were cameras put up in the past, but the vandals would find them and then damage or paint over the lens. KWU use of the area in Sunset Park for track and field will be going forward to vote in February. The area was walked with Mike Herman and Chris, and it will be fitting to the area. Brett Lamer is our new appointed city forester. Mr. Horton is compiling our master plan information and working on a draft proposal. The plan is to still hold public input meeting on the matter. December has been very busy at the Salina Fieldhouse, with our existing activities up and running along with the newly implemented leagues it going very well. Our new youth team basketball league filled up 3 weeks prior to deadline, and our soccer programs are up and running well. We just started a new indoor 3v3 league and an adult indoor 6v6 league. We are updating our calendar of events frequently at Salinafieldhouse.com. Hosted a 60 team MAYB tournament that was very packed, but everything ran smoothly and functioned great. The multiuse of the facility is great, there can be teams practicing baseball, while there is another team having a soccer practice, next to a team having a basketball practice, while in the other gym we have volleyball leagues running along with a basketball league all running at the same time. Vanessa at the animal shelter added new led lighting in all the cat kennels. It is meant to keep them less stressed. Cats perceive heat and lights different than humans. not always about the cleaning of the areas, but the overall health of the cats. The overall goal is to reduce the stress of animals. Removing the bottom row of kennels in the cat room reduced cleaning time immensely. Friends of the Animal Shelter have set up 4 can collection areas in the city. It benefits spay and neutering costs for animals being adopted. Parks and Recreation has entered an agreement with a smaller club to promote soccer in the area. Our rec programs will be branded Puma, and they will wear Puma jerseys. 8. General Announcements/Discussion: N/A 9. Adjournment Motion: 2 nd. 8-0 Meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
