KSHSAA
Basketball Tournaments will be held March 7-
Other volunteers are being recruited for the
March event. A task force meeting will be held
January 17.
Based on reclassification changes Salina will
host the 2A Class Football Championship in
2018 and 2019. In previous years, Salina has
hosted the 4A DII Class. The games will be on
11/24/2018 and 11/30/2019. Based on the
reclassification, unofficially, we believe at least
one site will be dropped from hosting.
Visit Salina is pleased to announce our
Center partnership with the SPRD & USSSA
Basketball. Following a site visit in July USSSA
tentatively held the June 1-3 date, and on
December 22 confirmed with a news release
that Salina will be host to the USSSA Midwest
Regional Basketball Championship, June 1-3,
2018 at the Salina Fieldhouse. This is the first
USSSA Basketball event at the Salina
Fieldhouse. The event
(grades 3-12) to Salina from throughout the
Midwest region. Teams can expect to play at
least three games and, up to six games should
they advance in the tournament. In addition to
the basketball tournament, the Salina Fieldhouse
will also be the site of an Opening Ceremony,
Stretch & Recovery Stations, Live Gameplay
Monitors, and a Highlight Video Station.
Unofficially two other site visits have resulted
in bookings at the Fieldhouse. USBA has
reserved April 14-15 and MAYB May 19-20 for
2018 tournaments.
The Salina Kids Wrestling Club will host their
annual Kansas Tournament of Champions
Wrestling Tournament January 26-27, 2018 at
is expected to bring more than 1400 youth
wrestlers and 3000+ spectators from KS, MO,
NE, OK and CO.
Sports Conferences/Trade Shows Tiffany continues to determine which Sports
Conference/Trade Shows to attend in 2018.
Sports Facility Guide & Sports Marketing Multi-size sports ads for use in 2018 are in

Advertising/Marketing We have contracted with KSN-TV and will be
signing a smaller contract with KWCH than last
year. A remnant buy for Good Housekeeping,
Quad Cities areas came our way, and we
jumped on those to promote Salina as an arts
destination and family destination. It is all about
BUDGET, BUDGET, BUDGET!
New ads are being created in the theme of
Rolling Hills Zoo.
Working with local partners Staff met with Convention and Tourism
Advisory Committee to report on projects and
activities. The January meeting was held at
Salina Fieldhouse.
Regularly meet with TPEC regarding pending
and confirmed business, to brainstorm, and plan
marketing of their events using the
Kenwood/Oakdale fund.

Cultural Roundtable partners are training now
and we are working through the bugs.
TIAK Tiffany will attend the Travel Industry
Association Kansas (TIAK) Destination
Statehouse on February 7 and the TIAK board
meeting on February 8 in Topeka.
Research, Budgeting, Administration We have created a new job description for a
staff person, to be released in late January. We
hope to have someone in place in March.
United Methodist ONE EventVisit Salina provided sponsorship and
assistance for this event that brought over 1000
Center and The Saline County Expo Center
buildings.
Sorghum U Over 100 Agriculture professionals attended
Pizza Events Center and Jo
Ann provided assistance.
Kansas Land Surveyors Jo Ann met with Meeting Planner and
provided Salina Information. The event drew
over 250 people for three days at Webster
Conference Center
High Plains Journal/Soil Health Conference Over 400 Agriculture producers and exhibitors
Ann, Sylvia and Kyle will assist with
Registration, Moderators, and Salina
Information.
EMERGE- Religious Conference Jo Ann attended a tradeshow in Omaha and had
Management meetings with Faith Based Meeting Planners.
Kansas Firefighters Assoc
Social Media Continued scheduled and shared posts/tweets
promoting locals events on a rotating basis on
Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube and
Instagram.
CrowdRiff CrowdRiff is a program that brings great visuals
to life! With CrowdRiff we are able to showcase
user-generated photos and videos on our
website. The galleries we have featured on our
website are created from traveler, visitor or
locals using a specific hashtag, location or
keyword pulled from Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram. We are then able to grab those
photos, pick out which ones best fit that specific
gallery and feature those photos on our website.
