RE: 2016 Court Services Trash/Litter Projects
Court Services Trash/Litter Projects for 2016 were completed with the last project being facilitated
on 9/24/2016.
For the 2016 Trash/Litter Project Season:
• 12 projects were facilitated. •
• 113 probationers from Saline Co. District Court & Salina Municipal Court participated on
these projects. Participation remained consistent from 2015.
• 339 hours of community service were completed during these projects. A total of 125 bags of
trash were removed from streets and roadways during the 2016 project season.
Coordination with the City of Salina has continued to be excellent. The City of Salina has been
very supportive and helpful in carrying out this service.
Probationers continue to meet at the Salina Police Department/Salina Municipal Court parking lot
on Saturday mornings when projects are scheduled, where they are met by the supervising
officers of the project. The Court Services staff continue to do an excellent job of advising
probationers of their responsibility to complete community service Trash/Litter projects, keeping
probationers informed of the projects, verifying attendance and monitoring credit given for the DUI
offenders towards court ordered fines. The staff has responded well to the need to supervise
projects and have helped insure the success of the program.
Looking ahead to next year, Court Services will again request grant funding from the City of
Salina for facilitation of Trash/Litter Projects for the 2017 season. Our office will be requesting
funding for a total of 12 projects for 2017.
Respec Ily ub itt this 7th day of October, 2016.
