1997 Annual Report - Accessibility Advisory Board
The Accessibility Advisory Board met 4 (four) times during 1997. The Board meets quarterly or more
frequently, if needed.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEAR
- Reviewed City compliance efforts regarding Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Reviewed accessibility improvement at the Salina Bicentennial Center including expansion of
accessible seating.
- Reviewed city projects regarding accessibility including the Smoky Hill River Festival and the
proposed play ground at Bill Burke Park.
- Addressed service requests designed to improve accessibility.
- Discussed city's role regarding ADA enforcement and building code requirements including
certification issues.
- Reviewed handicap parking issues including enforcement and signage.

The Accessibility Advisory Board continues to play an integral role in the City's efforts to ensure all
citizens have access to participate in all city programs, services and activities. Their dedication and
