Home Health COMMISSION INFORMATION MEMORANDUM VOL. 25, NO. 43 ADMINISTRATIVE BRIEF FROM YVONNE GIBBONS December 31 , 2003 Salina-Saline County Home Health Agency started serving patients in 1966. Based out of the Health Department, the agency is Medicare/Medicaid certified and State Licensed. There are 13 direct patient care staff and 2 clerical staff. Services include skilled nursing care such as IV therapy, wound care, medication management and diabetic instruction. Home Health Aides and Homemakers provide assistance with bathing, skin and nail care, exercises and homemaking chores. Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy are also available. Nurses are on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. In 2002, approximately 16,500 visits were made to Salina and Saline County residents. Home Health has proven to be a cost saving alternative for many people of all ages. These intermittent services assist individuals to stay in their own or loved one's home as long as possible. There are several different payer sources for home health including Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurance and Private pay.
