NOW THEREFORE:
To our fellow citizens~
~ne American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary
adopted the Memorial Poppy as its Memorial Flower
in 1919~ and
By wearing the Poppy~ Americans everywhere and
especially in this City of Salina both pay tribute
to these war dead and aid the living by assistance
to Veterans and their families in time of need; and
i~ne Poppy Day Program contributions are used solely
for the programs of Child Welfare and Rehabilitation
in our community and State;
I~ ~eith Pmckers~ !dayor of the City of Sa!ina~ do
hereby proclaim the month of May 1977 as POPPY MO~ITH~
and I'{ay 21~ 1977 as POPPY DAY in our City~ and I
urge all Citizens of our totem to join with me in
the wearing of this },iemorial Flower as together we
remember the sacrifices of so many in defense of
our freedom.
