6. New Business:
a. Heather Smith of the Greater Salina Community Foundation presented two grant
checks to Parks and Recreation Deputy Director, Steve Hardesty. The grants were awarded
to the Lakewood Discovery Center section.
b. Dion Louthan updated the board members on the Field House progress. Currently,
the design team is working on a schematic design and the building will be about 65,000
square feet with construction planned to begin in March of 2016.
c. The ECRA dog park location recommendation put forth by the advisory board was
presented to the city commission in a recent study session. Based on feedback from the city
commission, it was requested staff provide additional information on potential alternate
sites. After some discussion it was decided the next Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
meeting would be devoted to a tour of alternate sites/locations for the dog park.
7. Old Business:
a. Bicycle Advocacy Group Update Phil Black told the group about a tour of Fort
Collins and Boulder, CO, which are platinum level bicycle friendly cities.
