Administrative BriefFebruary 20, 1976
To: All City Commissioners
From: N. D. Olson, City Manager
Subject: Monday, February 23, 1976 Commission Meeting
Monday was supposed to be the day that the Kenwood Park, Baseball and
Rodeo Committee was to have a report back to you. I can only report
that we have pushed this particular meeting in that I have had staff
and myself entirely involved with Urban Renewal Matters during the
past two weeks. We spent yesterday and today preparing Form 6282
that Corwin requested. About 3:00 p.m. this afternoon he, Terri and
I participated in a conference call, put together what we thought
the budget portion of that form should include. There appears to
be a problem somewhere in our figures and we agreed for him to contact
us at 10:00 Monday, both will be attempting to resolve the arithmetic
in the meantime. I am attempting to consider the $23,389.70 overrun
to Smoky Hill as an accounts payable from Urban Renewal. If Corwin
accepts this we would be able to replenish the construction fund
as compared to getting that amount back from Community Development
Block Grant.
The street maintenance memo from Dean Boyer is a subject that Ray
Lampe approached Dean with last Tuesday. I think Dean and I each
agree that both of these projects should include the area mentioned
in the memo, but each of us is irritated that Saline County cannot
spend at least $8500.00 of tax money within the corporate limits of
this city---especially when over 2/3 of the County's total budget for
road maintenance comes from the taxpayers of Salina. If we choose to
honor this expenditure, it could be taken from our 1976 gas tax receipts.
I would appreciate any comments any of you have.
The resignation from Bonilla and the Wichita invite to their dedication
and open house activities are enclosed as is a copy of a letter from
the County Commissioners to Mel Gray stating their desire to not
implement their county-wide refuse collection plan.
