N. D. Olson, City Manager
Subject: Monday, May 19, 1975 Commission Meeting
I have enclosed a corrected copy of our letter to Jim Haff. I chose not to
place it on the agenda, suggesting instead that the subject be brought up from
the floor. It would appear more proper that the subject be publicized only
after the letter has been officially approved and signed by the Mayor.
The request by William Hoeffner certainly tells you very little. I am aware
of two subjects he (or others) will be discussing:
l) Sec. 6-48 of the City Code contains a clause not found in the state
law --- it's that part of the ordinance reading "or may be consumed
in any place open to the public". They want to be able to sell beer
up to 12 o'clock midnight and permit their customers to consume beer
till 12:30.
2) Sec. 6-61 presently'requires clear glass windows to be installed in
front of their establishments so that their business activities within
the building can, at all times, be visible from the street. They want
to amend this section to permit hanging curtains, drapes, paint the
inside of their glass, etc.
They may have some additional subjects in mind to discuss. I have not, as yet,
discussed the subject with Woody. You may wish to take their proposals under
advisement or refer them to me for a report back at a later date.
The map I have enclosed relates to the CAC appointments that need to be made.
I think all of you, with the exception of Jerry, had one of these. Thought
we'd send another (in case you could not find yours) with the idea that it
would assist you in identifying the areas where replacement members are needed.
Jerry -- Keith Rawlings has two small Land Use Maps from which you could decipher
absolutely nothing as it relates to the petition on North Santa Fe. I'd suggest
that you drop in and view his large map at your convenience if you can find the
time.
Jack -- John Estes had his Flood Control Foreman, Bill Kauer, visit with Clarence
Green concerning the drainage problem at the entrance of his property. The problem
is not related to the elevation of the culvert but instead created by silting
within the ditch along that area north from the culvert. John claims that Mr.
Green fully understands and appreciates the situation and that this type of ditch
work is totally a county responsibility. John also states that he received a
promise from the county last year to take care of this situation. Kauer visited
again with Lampe after visiting with Mr. Green and received another promise. Mr.
Green also is aware that if the county does not respond, his next efforts should
be directly with them.
