Award of contract for the Cloud Street Booster Pump Station Improvements, Project No. 03-1413
BACKGROUND:
This project involves certain modifications to a water distribution pump station located at the
northeast corner of West Cloud Street and Centennial Road. The existing pumps will be upgraded
to provide an adequate alternate water supply to the Schilling Industrial Area. Currently, this area is
supplied with water from only one major pipeline. A break/malfunction in this watermain would
critically restrict water flows to this major complex.
Bids were opened on September 23, 2003 for this project. The six (6) bids received are summarized

The bids were reviewed and were found to be valid.
FISCAL NOTE:
Funding for this pump station modification ($60,000) is included in the 2003 Water & Wastewater
C.I.P. budget (Water/Wastewater System Enhancement).
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended, therefore, that the City Commission award the contract for the Cloud Street
Booster Pump Station Improvement Project No. 03-1413, to Smoky Hill, L.L.C., Salina, Kansas in
the amount of $56,600
