Thank you for selecting this firm to advise and Work With you with regard to the processing
of the Suzette Brotton Complaint. We look forward to a mutually beneficial working relationship.
The purpose of this letter is to set forth the terms of our engagement. We will be pleased to
act as your attorney, and will, at all times, act at your direction. Much of the following is our Firm's
standard engagement language. If you have difficulty with any of it, please do not hesitate to call.
Purpose ofrepresentation. The purpose of our representation is to advise the Salina Human
Relations Commission on the investigation, processing of the discrimination complaint filed by
Suzette Brotton, and, if probable cause is found, present the matter to the cityjudge on behalf of the
Commission.
Fees. The principal basis for determining the amount of our fees for our services will be the
time spent by our professionals multiplied by their respective normal hourly billing rates. My rate
is 5150.00 per hour. My legal assistant's rate is 575.00 per hour.
Expenses. We will pass along to you our out-of-pocket expenses incurred on your behalf.
These may include, without limitation, long distance phone calls, travel, fax, photocopying,
computerized legal research, delivery services, filing fees, court costs and transcripts and other
incidental expenses. The charge for expense reimbursement is in addition to the fee referenced in
the above paragraph.
Billing. We will send you an invoice once each month. Generally, a matter cannot be
completed within one billing period, therefore, we offer you the option to postpone payment of the
invoice until our matter is concluded or to remit monthly payments as we proceed. However, review
of the invoice will help you stay informed of the amount of time this firm has spent on your behalf.
If you have questions or concerns, either now or upon receipt of any monthly invoice, please
contact this office immediately. Once again, your confidence in this firm is greatly appreciated.
