Commission MeetingOctober 4, 1974 To: All City Commissioners From: N. D. Olson, City Manager Subject: Monday, October 7, 1974, Commission Meeting Agenda: It appears the only comment I have concerning agenda items might be Mike Miller's application for a Merchant Police License. Margaret checked with the Police Department. Woody was out but it appears there is no problem with this application and that his application will be approved by this department. Other items: The Mayor has asked that you be advised of a request of the County Commissioners to meet with you at 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon to discuss the landfill. Neither of us know precisely what they have in mind. I believe they are to officially approve a County-Wide Plan by June 30, 1975 and be operational by June 30, 1976. The only other possible area of interest they could have might possibly be permitting their county trucks free access to the landfill. A copy of John Carlin's letter and one from the County Commissioners; are en- closed for your information. Two other items should also be discussed prior to the 4:00 meeting, l) I feel certain that Bob Allen will accept the appraised value of $10,000.00 for his home in Centennial Park, if you would authorize a letter of our "intent to purchase" for that amount. 2) Mrs. Melvin's letter also relates to real estate involvement so it should be discussed prior to any public release. The letter from Cable T.V. is one of information. Larry Justus advises that he has visited with each of you individually concerning this subject. I believe the 2 pieces of correspondence concerning the October 9, meeting in Kansas City are self-explanatory. I am having Bill Harris, Will Burnett and Keith Rawlings attend from staff. If any of you can make the trip you should so advise us on Monday. The letter from HUD relating to the Workable Program has been received since our last meeting. A discussion with Bernstein has reaffirmed recertification has no bearing on any present commitments for Salina. The subjects mentioned are identical to those that will need to be satisfied in the new Community Development Application. It makes more sense to spend our time doing this that it does in obtaining recertification of something that has no sume value.
