Mutual Agreement MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT
The Helping Hand Ambulance Service and the Salina Fire
Department/Emergency Medical Service enter into an agreement of
mutual aid on the following conditions :
1 . Helping Hand Ambulance Service agrees not to respond
to any 911 call, unless requested to do so by the
Salina Fire Department/Emergency Medical Service ,
with the understanding that Helping Hand Ambulance
Service may transport patients between nursing homes
and hospitals , if requested, in the ordinary course of
business of Helping Hand Ambulance Service as re-
ferred through their regular business number. In the
event Helping Hand Ambulance Service responds to a
call of the ordinary course of business and determines
they are not qualified to handle said matter, the
Salina Fire Department/Emergency Medical Service
agrees to respond to the call upon request of
Helping Hand Ambulance Service.
2 . Helping Hand Ambulance Service shall have a system
for transmitting an emergency call to the ' 911"
system at the central dispatch center.
3 . The Salina Fire Department/Emergency Medical
Service shall respond to aid Helping Hand
Ambulance Service only when such aid is requested.
4 . In the event Helping Hand Ambulance Service
personnel encounter an emergency situation
prompting a request for emergency assistance,
Salina Fire Department/Emergency Medical Service
shall respond to the emergency call in the same
manner as any other emergency call .
5 . No service charges shall be levied against the
other service for aid that is rendered.
6 . Helping Hand Ambulance Service agrees not to
advertise as an emergency response service .
7 . This agreement shall be subject to review annually.
8 . This agreement may be cancelled by either party upon
thirty days written notice to the other party.

Kansas Statutes require that where two ambulance operations exist in the same
community a mutual aid agreement for emergency situations be initiated. This
agreement conforms with those requirements. This agreement has been approved
by the City Attorney and the Emergency. Medical Service and is in the proper
format.
Action postponed May 5, 1986 for clarification at the request of the Emergency •
Medical Service.
