F-7 Zone Meadowlark Acres 3PLANNING DIRECTOR March 21, 1974 Salina City Commission 300 W. Ash Salina, Kansas 67401 RE: Petition #3380 by Mr. Raymond E. Haggart Gentlemen and Mrs. Cooper: At your request, the Salina Metropolitan Planning Commission reconsidered Petition #3380 at their meeting of March 19, 1973. At that time, by a vote of five (5) in favor to two (2) opposed, it was recommended that on the basis that no new relevant evidence has been presented to the Planning Commission at this time, the Planning Commission will stand on their previous recommendations to approve this petition subject to approval of the already submitted plat. In addition, the following reasons were cited Unanimously by those members present as contributing to the Planning Commission's action: The pressure for commercial zoning is generated by the City Commission's action in passing industrial revenue bond resolutions for areas like School Specialty, General Battery, Lee Hardware, and other industrial developments south of Magnolia. There is an essential relationship between industrial and commercial land use as a city cannot have manufacturing and industrial expansion without a proportional amount of commercial expansion. The recommendation is in compliance with the proposed Land Use Plan and Map as it was formally presented and unanimously approved at this March 19th meeting. 4.
