PROCLAMATION
%~HEREAS, the Kansas Arn~ National Guard is the first line
back-up force to the active Army; and
WHEREAS, the Kansas Army National Guard stands ready to
serve and defend the citizens of Kansas in times of natural
disasters and other emergencies; and
WHEREAS, Guardsmen/Guardswomen have voluntarily served the'
State of Kansas and the ~ation Yor more than three hundred years
meeting challenges in each generation of our Nation's history; and
%H{EREAS, local Guardsmen/Guardswomen recently (example of
recent community support provided by local Guard unit); and
WHEREAS, enlightened public understanding and support of our
Army National Guard-is vital to the strength and morale of our
citizen/soldiers; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jack Weisgerber, Mayor of Salina, Kansas
do hereby proclaim
· 'FEBRUARY 1974
AS
KANSAS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MONTH
in Salina, to honor all members of the Kansas
Army National Guard for their faithful and dedicated service to our
community, the State of Kansas and the Nation, and to encourage all
citizens of Kansas, eligible to serve in the Kansas National Guard,
to consider the advantages and opportunities of Such service.
