threats to the American family, the peace, justice ,
freedom and dignity of citizens troubles many people
of American communities today, and
community people, especially youth, search for
opportunities to work together in unity to strengthen
family ties and meet these threats, and toward deeper
understanding of others, and
the Young Men's Christian Association, an orqanization
whose purpose is to work for peace, justice, freedom
and dignity for all, offers an open invitation to all
people to' .join its members in working toward these high
goals.
therefore, I Jack Weisgerber, Mayor of the City of
Salina, do hereby proclaim the week of January 21-28,
1974, as National YMCA Week, to honor the organization
and i~s members for their enriching influence to the
community and urge that all of us give it our support.
