ADMINISTRATIVE BRIEF FROM GARY HOBBIE
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Development Services Department, Building Services, has experienced steady issuance of
building permits for 2013, yet on track to match most building years since 2008. We have issued a
total of 1114 building permits this year and in the first eight months of 2013 we have issued 35
single-family residential construction permits, with permit values of $ 10,265,000, and on track to
meet and possibly exceed the 2012 construction year. The trends show that homes constructed
in the $185,000 - $250,000 price range are selling at a faster pace than those in other price
ranges. Below is an eight year comparison of the single month of August and an annual
comparison of building permits issued. Building Inspectors have increased their nuisance code
enforcement eliminating any down time in the office. Those reports will be shared later in the year
when we discuss the code enforcement department.
