Project Update CONTRACTED PROJECT UPDATE JULY 10, 2000 PROJECT NO. 97-1058 WATER PLANT IMPROVEMENTS CONTRACTOR: WALTERS-MORGAN CONSTRUCTION, INC. CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: MARCH 16, 1998 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: AUGUST, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $4,995,000.00 $ 81,421.04 Change Order #2 SCOPE: This project involves the installation of air stripping units; softening basins; sludge pumping station; plant piping; chemical feed systems, etc. at the Water Treatment Plant. DISCUSSION: Construction activities are ahead of schedule. The basins, pumping station, chemical feeds, air strippers, and plant piping have been completed and are operational. Minor items remain to be completed. -. " PROJECT NO798-1138 SOUTH OHIO CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS BELMONT BOULEVARD TO MAGNOLIA ROAD CONTRACTOR: APAC-KANSAS, SHEARS DIVISION CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: FEBRUARY 28, 2000 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: NOVEMBER 20, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $3,037,401.10 SCOPE: This project involves street and flood control improvements from Belmont Boulevard to Magnolia Road. Drainage improvements will serve properties on Aurora Avenue, Edward Street, Wesley Street and Roach Street. This project is one of the largest, single infrastructure projects to be financed solely with local funds in the history of Salina. DISCUSSION: Activities on storm sewer improvements are under way along with pavement improvements. Construction is approximately 50% complete. JULY 10, 2000 PROJECT NO. 98-1156 REHABILITATION/RECONSTRUCTION PUMP STATIONS NO. 32, 46 AND 54 CONTRACTOR: SMOKY HILL, LLC CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: JUNE 7, 1999 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: AUGUST 23, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $278,000.00 SCOPE: This project includes the replacement of two(2) Wastewater Pump Stations, No. 32, located in the 1400 block of West Schilling Road and No. 46, located in the 1900 block of Scanlan Avenue. Both facilities were originally constructed by the Air Force to serve military residential areas, located near the Holidome. The modification of Pump Station No. 54 consists of the installation of a larger/deeper wet well to increase pumping efficiency. DISCUSSION: Construction activities have been completed on Station No. 32, Station No. 46 and Station No. 54. These new stations have been placed into operation. The project is substantially complete. PROJECT NO. 99-1168 1999 WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS CONTRACTOR: SMOKY HILL, LLC - PART II CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: NOVEMBER 22, 1999 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: JUNE, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $195,898.00 SCOPE: This project includes the replacement of approximately one-half mile of water pipeline at four locations. The existing water pipeline segments which are being replaced have been identified as problem areas in the water distribution system for many years with frequent water main breaks, high maintenance costs, etc. DISCUSSION: Construction is complete. JULY 10, 2000 PROJECT NO. 99-1183 SOUTH NINTH STREET UTILITY EXTENSIONS CONTRACTOR: STEVENS CONTRACTORS, INC. CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: AUGUST 23, 1999 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: JULY 29,2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $538,410.00 SCOPE: The project involves over a mile of new sewer lines and over half mile of new water mains to serve properties along South Ninth Street between Schilling Road on the north and Waterwell Road on the south. The project is critical to the continued development of this proposed commercial corridor. DISCUSSION: This project is complete. PROJECT NO. 99-1190 FRONT STREET SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS CONTRACTOR: STEVENS CONTRACTORS, INC. CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: MARCH 6, 2000 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: JUNE 29, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $102,400.00 SCOPE: This project involves the rehabilitation and replacement of a section of 24" gravity sanitary sewer pipeline under the main tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad on Front Street between Forest Avenue and Railroad Avenue. This line was installed prior to 1920 as a combination storm/sanitary sewer but is functioning today as only a sanitary sewer pipeline. DISCUSSION: Construction work is neady complete. JULY 10, 2000 PROJECT NO. 99-1198 SUBDIVISION IMPROVEMENTS IV REPLAT BLOCKS 4, 10, 11 & 12, GEORGETOWN ADDITION EASTVlEW ADDITION, PHASE II CONTRACTOR: APAC-KANSAS, SHEARS DIVISION - PART I STEVENS CONTRACTORS, INC. -PART II CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: DECEMBER 12, 1999 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: MAY 1, 2000 - PART I MARCH 1, 2000 - PART II ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $276,734.40 - PART I $276,744.50- PART II SCOPE: This subdivision project involves street, drainage, water and sanitary sewer improvements in both additions. The Georgetown Addition Replat portion of~ the project when completed will serve the properties along the newly completed streets of Pheasant Laneto Seitz Ddve and the construction of a new cul-de-sac Pheasant Circle. The Eastview Estates:Addition portion of the project is a continuation of the first phase and includes the completion ofBlakemoore Ddve and Sierra Ddve. This project will provide 40 additional residential lots for deVelopment when completed. DISCUSSION: Construction is complete. PROJECT NO. 99-1199 SIGNALIZATION IMPROVEMENTS SANTA FE AVENUE AND SOUTH STREET CONTRACTOR: B & W ELECTRIC CONTRACTORS CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: FEBRUARY 28, 2000 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: AUGUST 9, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $60,400.00 SCOPE: '. This project will replace the traffic signal system at this intersection and includes installation of a new controller, traffic detectors, emergency vehicle pre-emption system and overhead mast arms. The ~ existing signal system was installed in 1974 and has become obsolete. DISCUSSION: Construction is expected to begin July 10, 2000. JULY 10, 2000 PROJECT NO. 00-1209 2000 LATEX MODIFIED SLURRY SEAL CONTRACTOR: BALLOU CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: FEBRUARY 28, 2000 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: MAY 15, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $192,044.00 SCOPE: This project includes approximately 10 lane miles of pavements that will be treated with this method of asphalt pavement surfacing which prolongs the serviceability of streets by creating a moisture- resistant barrier. DISCUSSION: This project has been completed. PROJECT NO. 00-1217 2000 SUBDIVISION IMPROVEMENTS EAST BANK ESTATES ADDITION & MORRISON'S ADDITION CONTRACTOR: SMOKY HILL, L.L.C. CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: MAY 1, 2000 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: AUGUST 5, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $170,020.00 SCOPE: This project involves the construction of water and sanitary sewer improvements in the East Bank Estates Addition and replacement to larger water lines in the Morrison's Addition. DISCUSSION: Construction is approximately 40% complete. JULY 10, 2000 PROJECT NO. 00-1218 UNDERGROUND CABLE INSTALLATION CONTRACTOR: TBS CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: APRIL 3, 2000 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: DECEMBER 17, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $103,000.00 SCOPE: This project involves the installation of 52,00 L.F. of underground cable to remote approximately 1,150 water meters. The Water Division will furnish new meters and perform the necessary electrical connections at the outside water meter location and at the remote reading receptacle. DISCUSSION: Work has commenced. PROJECT NO. 00-1220 2000 SPRING STREET MARKING CONTRACTOR: TWIN TRAFFIC MARKING, CORP. CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: APRIL 17, 2000 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: MAY 20, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $16,253.00 SCOPE: This project involves the contract street marking (line painting of approximately 76 miles of city streets. The street marking takes place mostly on artedal and collector streets throughout the city. DISCUSSION: Street marking has been completed. JULY 10, 2000 PROJECT NO. 00-1222 2000 STREET MAINTENANCE CHEROKEE DR - REPUBLIC AVE TO PAWNEE AVE QUINCY ST. - CLOUD ST. TO RUSSELL AVE. CONTRACTOR: APAC-KANSAS, SHEARS DIVISION CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: JUNE 12, 2000 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: SEPTEMBER 16, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $125,202.70 SCOPE: The Street Reconstruction' Program, which includes a variety of contracted street repairs will reconstruct badly deteriorated residential streets with the complete reconstruction of pavement and curb and gutter. These repairs include asphalt, slurry seals, asphalt crack sealing, asphalt overlays, bdck street repairs, railroad crossing upgrades, concrete curb and gutter replacement and concrete street patching. DISCUSSION: Construction will begin the middle of July. PROJECT NO. 00-1223 2000 SUBDIVISION IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE II WOODLAND HILLS ESTATES ADDITION TWIN OAKS III SUBDIVISION CONTRACTOR: APAC KANSAS-SHEARS DIVISION(PART 1) STEVENS CONTRACTORS (PART II) CONTRACT APPROVAL DATE: JUNE 12, 2000 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: SEPTEMBER 19, 2000 ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $188,859.10 (PART I) $141,081.00 (PART II) SCOPE: This subdivision project will include construction of streets, water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage in both additions. When completed this project will provide 32 additional residential lots for development. DISCUSSION: Construction is approximately 10% complete.
