BACKGROUND The City Commission recently approved two(2) petitions for improvements in the following subdivisions: East Bank Estates Addition - ( water and sanitary sewer) Morrison's Addition - ( water system only) Bids were received on Tuesday, April 25, 2000 as follow: BIDDER BID AMOUNT SCHEDULE SMOKY HILL, L.L.C. $170,020.00 May 8 - August 5, 2000 STEVENS CONTRACTORS, INC. $310,278.00 May 8 - August 5, 2000 ENGINEERS ESTIMATE $198,793.50 The East Bank Addition benefit district portion of the project costs may be initially financed 80% by the City, 20% by the developer and then repaid by the property owners over a 15 year period with the special assessment system. The petitioner would also have the option of submitting a letter of credit for 35% of the project costs and assessing 100% of the project costs to the property owners. Property owners within the Morrison's Addition benefit district will be assessed 89% of the project costs with the City paying the remaining 11% based on improved fire protection. Each lot within the benefit district will pay their share of costs based on front footage. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Commission award the contract for the 2000 Subdivision Improvements, Phase I, Project No. 00-1217, to Smoky Hill, EEC. in the amount of $170,020.00. 2000 Sub.
