ENGINEERS TO DISCUSS FLOOD PLAIN PROBLEMS
A meeting for the purpose of discussing flood plain problems
on Smoky Hill River, Saline River and Dry Creek Diversion in the
metropolitan area of Salina, Kansas, has been scheduled for 7:30 p.m.,
Tuesday, 3 October 1972, at the City Hall Council ChaMbers in
Salina, Kansas. ' '
The meeting announcement was made jointly by ~ayor Jack
County Commissioner Frank Yost,
Weisgerber/~and by Colonel Wil].iam R. Needham, District Engineer,,
U. S. Army ,Corps of Engineers, Kansas City, Missouri. M.~yor'
Weisgerber indicates the Flood Plain Information Report on Smoky
Hill River, Saline River and Dry Creek Diversion at Salina: Kansas,
has been prepared for the residents of the metropolitan area in
response to a request of the city council and the county commission.
The report, showing the flood problems and hazard areas within
the city and county adjacent to Smoky Hill. River, Sa'line River and
Dry Creek Diversion will be explained by LTC James W. Peck, Deputy
District Engineer and will be formally presented to Mr, Keith S.
Krause, Executive Director', Kansas Water Resources Board, .Topeka,
Kansas, and- to Saline County Commissioner Frank ¥os%.
M~yor Weisgerber stated the public 'is invited and those
attending will be given an illustrated booklet covering the flood
hazards and will be afforded an opportunity to ask questions
following the presentation.
