E-1 Bank Womens Week A P ~OCLA~,'.AT I O~[ by the MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SALI~,[A WHEREAS, during the past half-century, and particularly since the days of World War II, women have entered the banking industry in increasing numbers and have proven themselves dedicated, knowledgeable, and resourceful members of the profession, contri}~uting in terms of leadership and financial expertise to the welfare of local communities, states, and to the nation as a whole; and WHEREAS, there are now more than 25,000 women bank officers throughout the United States, including many representatives in our own city of Salina, and endeavoring through their v~rious efforts to improve and enhance the contribution their porfession makes to our modern world; and WHEREAS, many more young women are entering the banking field today than ever before and are diligently al>plying themselves to the tasks leading to advancement and recognition in this important industry; and WHEREAS, the National Association of Bank-Women Inc., founded fifty years ago by six women bankers and now numbering more than 9,000 banking executives as members, will observe its Golden Anniversary in national convention in Chicago, Illinois, in September 1972; therefore be it PROCLAIMED that in the city of Salina, the week of that observance-- September 17-23, 1972 will be designated as Bank-Women's Week in appropriate tribute to the valuable role played in our own city by the many dedicated women involved in the banking industry and to the members of the National Association of Bank-Women Inc. now observing this important anniversary.
