Dear Tim Kerbs,
Thank you for applying for the National Recreation and Park Association's
Serving Communities grant. I am pleased to inform you that the Salina Parks &
Recreation Department has been selected to receive grant funding in the amount
of$46,600 to support your agency's child nutrition program(s). Your agency will
also receive $3,400 in training materials as an in-kind contribution to implement
the nutrition education program, OrganWise Guys.
Congratulations—we look forward to working with you to ensure as many
children as possible receive nutritious meals and healthy enrichment activity-
during the summer.
The grant agreement period is May 17, 2012 to February 28, 2013. During this
period, your agency is required to:
• Submit a brief plan and budget outline for how the grant funding will be
utilized (required before funds are distributed).
• Direct grant funds to increasing participation in your child nutrition
program.
• Submit a pre and final Report using the online reporting tool provided by
NRPA. This report will collect program specific data and information on
how the grant funds were spent.
• Share success stories, photos, quotes, local media and other outreach
information highlighting the impact of this grant.
• Establish a coalition of local stakeholders and community partners (e.g.,
school district, food bank, community leaders, farmers, businesses, etc)to
assist in support of your child nutrition program.
• Participate in conference calls with NRPA and other grantees for peer
learning and sharing.
• Attend a one-day training on May 22, 2012 at the Kansas Health
Foundation Headquarters in Wichita, KS.

• Participate in local media or public relations efforts to highlight your
department's child nutrition program.
• Host a half-day site visit by NRPA staff, including local stakeholders.
• Create or expand local community gardening programs.
Specifically related to implementation of the OrganWise Guys program your
agency is expected to:
• Implement OrganWise Guys at 2 feeding sites over the course of 8 weeks
in your Summer 2012 Feeding Program.
• Submit pre, mid-term, and final reports to NRPA utilizing the evaluation
tools provided by NRPA.
Please acknowledge agreement to these terms by signature of the department
director or other appropriate authority. Upon receipt of this signed form, a check
